As a small business owner, you’re probably more concerned with your day-to-day operations than trying to keep up with all the latest internet gadgets and fads that seem to come out every other day. It’s nearly impossible to try out every cool new application or productivity tool that comes out, because ironically the majority of these will end up decreasing your productivity anyway. It is important, however, to take notice if something is able to turn the corner and develop a legitimate market share. If you haven’t yet heard of or tested Google Chrome, you’re really missing out.
Google Chrome is a relatively new web browser hoping to compete with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I won’t try to explain it’s infrastructure, but I will say that I’m using it regularly and have found it to be much quicker and generally a slicker web browser for my basic needs. If you analyze your web traffic and your site attracts a reasonable amount of tech savvy people, you’ve most likely noticed a growing percentage of visitors using Chrome. That should be reason alone for you to at least test your website in it. Chrome only recently emerged from beta status and therefore still has some bugs. For example, it was creating an odd scrolling issue on the contact page at Port City Color Copy that was preventing clients from entering in a promotional code. Without due diligence, these seemingly minute details can sometimes end up costing your company valuable time and money.
